Yesterday, we had our Fall Feast at a beautiful home on 5 acres in West Lake Hills.  We had a very good crowd of students who had no problem chowing down the brisket and chicken BBQ!  It was a great time to hang out, relax, fellowship, and enjoy the cooling weather in central Texas, but the top event of the evening was the singing followed by a video viewing of “God’s Move with Young People.”

The video talked about God using young people in their teens and twenties for the spread of His gospel to the world throughout history. In the early 18th century there was a need for Christians to go to China and preach the gospel for the spread of Christ and His kingdom. China had been a foreign and shut-up country for many thousand of years with no testimony for the Lord Jesus. No doubt through countless prayers over many years, perhaps centuries, by many lovers of Christ, the Lord was able to open a door in the gospel. At the turn of the 18th century the Lord now needed some who would respond to His call to go and disciple the nations. One such person was Robert Morrison who was only 22 years old when he decided to give his life to the Lord Jesus.  At 25 years old, he would sail to China to become the first Christian Protestant missionary in China.  After 27 years in China, Morrison only led one person to the Lord, but more importantly he translated the whole Bible into Chinese.  Surely through his work of translation, ten of thousands came to know the Lord Jesus!

Hudson Taylor was also 22 years old when he left his home in England for China.  Eventually he would labor for 51 years in China!  He became the founder of the China Inland Missionary that would bring over 800 missionaries to the country and ultimately result in over 18,000 people receiving salvation!

These two brothers were just a few of the believers that God has used throughout history to further His purpose on the earth.  We ended the Fall Feast with prayers to consecrate ourselves to the Lord for His continued move on the earth, especially on the UT campus.

Lord Jesus, we love You!  May our lives be for Your purpose.
